On Sunday, Andy rode with me from Charlottetown PEI to St. John NB. Andy is a great guy. He overflows with ideas, observations and humorous anecdotes. His verbosity, however, is in direct proportion to his exuberance.

Also, there’s a speech technique he uses, subconsciously I’m sure, to give more import to his words. He lessens the distance his voice has to travel.

In other words, a close talker.

So after we had travelled together for three or four hours I was a little concerned when he announced that he was feeling ill.

As of Tuesday afternoon, I’m okay. But I’m at home instead of in Newfoundland. Andy wasn’t well enough to continue so we cancelled the last show and spent all day yesterday driving home.

Had we pushed ahead and done the show it would have sounded like Froggy went a-courting or Popeye’s collection of shipwrecks and sea shanties.

To my readers in St. John’s and all of Newfoundland I apologize. We hope to make up for it at some point.
