We’re Back

We never really left. When our leader and raison d’être, Gordon Lightfoot, passed away in early May of this year, it would seem to have been an excellent time to gather our trophies, write some memoirs, and go home to Netflix.

We didn’t write or sing any of the tunes, and it was never any of our names on the Marquees outside the venues.

But we weren’t just hired guns. With just a few minor exceptions, we played on all the recordings and performed live on all the shows. We assisted Mr. Lightfoot in arranging and recording his songs. Our DNA is all over this great music.

Another thing: We’ve been doing this for a long time. Over four decades for me, and I’m one of the newer members! We are good friends, and we work well together. None of us are ready to call it a day if there is any possible way to carry on……..

And There Is!

Inspired by the success of the concert show bands that are currently on tour, recreating everything from ABBA to Pink Floyd; Rick, Barry, myself, and Carter are taking that trend more than a few steps beyond its usual format. We currently have a fellow we’re working with who does a great job at capturing the essence of Gord’s music.

As The Lightfoot Band, we’ll be doing all the best loved tunes, some of which haven’t been performed in years. If you have one or two you’d really like to hear, I’m open to some input.

Personally, I’m pushing for Summer Side Of Life, The Circle Is Small, and Black Day In July.

We’ll be telling stories and interacting with the audience. And we will keep it fun.

Patience

We still have some details to take care of and the show will undoubtedly be launched locally before touring. Most concerts have to be set up months in advance. Who knows though? It could be sooner than I think. I’ll keep you posted, as I’m sure half a dozen other sites will as well.
