San Diego
For years we’ve played at an excellent open-air venue called Humphreys when we were in the San Diego area. It was up by the airport, right on the water with the marinas. The theatre pictured here, the Balboa, is our first time downtown in 30 years.
Our show here Wednesday, “was the cleanest so far this trip” as Gord put it and I concur. I hesitate though to call it the best.
“Clean” refers to a few things. Sound, particularly a lack of lower midrange mud, the accuracy of playing, good guitar tuning and consistent tempo. But a show can fall short on one or two of those qualities (three is pushing it, four is no way) and still rock.
I’ll weigh in with my opinions on Monday when the trip is done.
