Ram’s Head

This is our second time this year atĀ thisĀ unusual venue. We do club-style shows from time to time. In fact, BB King’s, just the night before, is a show-bar but a large one like Barrymore’s in Alexandria Virginia or the Canyon Club just north of LA. But the Ram’s Head is more like the places I played in the seventies. The stage wasĀ extremely cramped (I had to wedge my way back behindĀ my keyboards, I couldn’t even stand up for my intro), a situation in which I had toĀ dodge death blows from Rick’s bass. So close to Barry his entrance in The Edmund Fitzgerald was seismic and knocked over the double scotch and soda I had hidden under my piano………

Its a lot of fun playing in such intimate situations where you can see the expressions on peoples faces as Gord’s music (and the way we play it) works its magic. I don’t need reminders as to the absolute brilliance of that man’s art, but the instant feedback from the audience has its own magic, almost non-existent in the big theatres we’re used to.
